This article covers the use of ProNovia CFM together with SAP ECTR.
There are basically two scenarios regarding the use of SAP ECTR and ProNovia CFM. Depending on the type of application at a customer, the appropriate solution must be defined with the customer.
1. The customer drives a ProNovia material centered approach
MM01 is called via Transaction Call from ECTR and CFM runs in a SAP GUI window (light).
When displaying the materials in ECTR including the documents, the CFM module "Read Configurations" is called from ECTR and the data is displayed accordingly.
This approach is active at customers of ProNovia.
2. Customer drives a document centered approach as propagated by all CAD integrators.
At some point in the development process ECTR calls the function "Create material master" and links the selected documents to the material without considering the ProNovia data model. It is recommended to assign a default configuration type (e.g. "INITIAL") to the material at this point.
Here, the material can be transferred to the ProNovia CFM data model later in the lifecycle via a KOFIMA type change.
If the correct configuration type is to be determined when the material is created, this data must be made available from an additional mask in ECTR for the material creation.
The third approach is used by ProNovia customers, with and without ECTR (from PDM system).
