Translations

ProNovia Delivery

ProNovia products are available in English, French and German as listed on the product data sheets and are translated into these languages by ProNovia. All other languages must be translated customer-specifically. Any existing texts in other languages are taken from the corresponding standard translations by the SAP standard, or have already been translated once on a customer-specific basis.

Why do objects have to be translated

As in most standard SAP programs, the texts in the languages used must be filled in to display functions, menu items, etc. Other languages than the delivered ones have to be either translated or simply "filled in". SAP offers tools for this, e.g. to fill a language with EN.

In our Support Center you can find the following article:  Fill up missing languages

The following articles are also relevant for the topic of translation: OBJ V9.14.0  und ProNovia namespaces /PRONOVIA/ and /PCH/ for repairs

Where/How is translated in SAP

  • Transaction SE63: Here many Workbench objects, forms and other UI texts are translated.

  • Transaction SE80: Here can/must be partially translated directly in the objects. Corresponding objects are e.g. text elements for development objects and selection texts of interfaces.

  • In Customizing: There are translation options for the language-dependent customizing items, as in the SAP standard. These can usually be found via the menu item "Goto -> Translation".

Further help on the subject of translation from SAP can be found online, e.g. under the following reference: SAP Help Translations

Which texts for the development objects should be translated

There is no complete list of data elements to be translated. Basically, it is recommended to translate all texts of development objects below the main package /PRONOVIA/MAIN or at least the texts of the corresponding module packages (e.g. /PRONOVIA/PRM), since a large part of the texts is used in the user interface. At least all text symbols/selection texts, message and long texts (also SOTR texts) and data element texts should be translated.

Also the table /PCH/OBJ_TYPE (or the language dependent table /PCH/OBJ_TYPET).

Possible support for the translation of other languages by ProNovia

The support for the translation of the products into other languages than the delivered ones does not fall under the product support, but can be discussed and ordered project-specifically with the respective ProNovia consultants.
