General <REFMAT> rules and examples

Rules

  • <REFMAT> on a key field means that all values are selected for determining the data for this field. At least one key field must be used with value <REFMAT> to activate this mechanism.

  • <REFMAT> on a field for setting values must always be used together with target field *. All data from the selected records according the key fields are used.

  • <REFMAT> without parameters and <REFMAT (...)> with parameters can be used mixed.

  • <REFMAT (...)> with parameters or any other special values are applied according to their description.

  • The different views are partially related. This applies in particular if no view control is specified and therefore the view control of the reference is transferred. Examples:

  • Sales views MVKE always also require the control data MLAN

  • The accounting views of the plants (MARC) require valuation MBEW

  • Creating different views (MRP, Purchasing, and so on) requires data for these views in the basic material data MARA. These data can be provided with the following sentence:

In this case, the option "Only if initial" must be selected, otherwise MARA data that has been entered can be overwritten.

  • It is generally recommended always to use the option "Only when initial" for sentences with field * <REFMAT>.

Examples

These two lines of definition would copy all fields of all plant views of the reference material.

However, the access key can also be used in a mixed way:

These settings would copy all the fields for all distribution channels in sales organization 0001.
