Troubleshooting

Basically, processes can be faulty or temporarily faulty. Temporary errors occur e.g. because of locks. With the help of a periodic job, such errors are normally corrected fully automatically. If the problem cannot be corrected even after a certain number of repetitions defined in Customizing, then the process is marked as faulty.

If a Process does not start or does not continue, there might be a delay in the processing of the workflow, depending on the system utilisation and system settings. Be patient. The system regulary checks if pending events can be processed. If the error still persists or other unforeseen situations arise during the processing, an administrator has to take corrective actions.

Check the "Troubleshooting" Widget. The system tries to detect a couple of common and not so common situations, which might lead to problems in the processing and can be solved with in a semi-automatic way. Depending on your application settings, the Widget “Troubleshooting” must be displayed using the layout manager.

The list is to be processed from top to bottom. In addition to a short description, the Information icon can be used to display the list of errors (if multiple errors have been recorded) or an extended description and the available action(s).

In the column Solution a function is available, which can be used to solve the problem. After the function has been executed, it automatically checks whether the problem could be solved with the administrator's action.

For some problems, an alternative solution is also available. For example, in case of a failed status change, it is possible to execute it again online or to ignore it completely because the problem could be solved otherwise.

Since ProProcess is based on SAP Workflow, errors can also occur for which no automated solution can be provided. In this case, only the process restart function is available, which automatically solves the problem that may only exist temporarily. However, if the problem cannot be solved with this, a detailed analysis of the error with the help of SAP workflow analysis tools is absolutely necessary.
