Data Migration

Below some notes about migration of existing data (material master records and document information records) to be used with ProConfiguration.

The reports provided for ProConfiguration data migration can’t cover all requirements. If required, make a copy of the report(s) and make any required changes.

Configuration Type

Each material to be used with ProConfiguration must have assigned a valid configuration type. Using a configuration type without customer exit, this will be a value from the material classification.

Material Status

A material possesses an actual cross-plant status, which is set as cross-plant material status. Optionally, also plant and sales view can have a status. These statuses must correspond to a status according to the status net, assigned to the corresponding configuration type.

Status Log

Certain ProConfiguration processes require a valid entry in the material status log. Using the auxiliary program /PRONOVIA/PRM_INIT_MSP, these entries can be generated automatically, dependent on configuration type, material status and / or material type.

Before using this program, the configuration type and cross-plant material status must be maintained.

Documents

In order to identify already linked documents it is necessary to maintain the object identification. This is not necessary if identification is based on the document type.

Data Packages

If data packages with document info records and parts lists should be used, this must be created using the existing material and document data. For each material master revision a data package (document version with document parts list) with same change number as the material revision must be created.

Please connact your ProNovia consultant for support in creating data packages in your system.

Plant revisions

After activating plant revisions (see ProConfiguration main settings), it is possible to create revisions on plant views using the report /PRONOVIA/PRM_MIG_PLANT_REV.

The revisions will be build based on the revisions from plant specific data packages. Using the corresponding parameter in the area "Client revisions without corresponding plant data packages", also plant revisions for client changes / revisions without a plant data packages can be created. The data package type to be used must be specified. Configuration type, material number and plant view can be restricted.

For each revision found for the specific data package (matching the plant) a plant revision will be created. If multible changes within the same revision exist and the option "Use data package changes to same revision" is not marked, the least validity will be used for the plant revision.

If a plant view has revisions assigned, this is shown and the plant view will not be processed again.
