Standard SAP transaction FILE allows defining logical file names and paths. A logical file name follows a name convention and is linked to a logical file path. A reference for the physical path is required for each so-called syntax group (refers to operating system) in the logical file path. The logical file path must be generated before the logical file name:

Logical file paths are independent from client and obligatory for transport!
