Creation of a Structure Relation

You create a structure relationship directly in the ProStructure application by selecting the "Create" function, which is available in the widgets Navigation and Structure Relationship Basic Data via the Create icon :

If changes to the currently open structure relationship exist, that have not yet been saved , the system asks whether you want to save them. See Editing the Target Structure.
If relationships are possible for different object types, the reference and target object types to be used must be selected in a dialog:

The system then switches to the Create dialog.

After you have entered the initial object for the reference and target structure and confirmed your entry with <Enter>, the possible reference validities are determined and one of them must be selected. For comparative relationships, the target structure must exist and the one to be used must also be selected from the possible validities.
Once you have saved your entries the system carries out various checks and, if necessary, other queries if structure relationships change.

The target structure already exists

You must select whether you want to use an existing validity or a new one:

If you choose Enter a different validity, you must enter the change number or Valid from date in another dialog box.

A target structure is part of another structure relationship

In this case, it depends on whether the user has the necessary authorization to copy the corresponding substructure into a new structure relationship.

If the user has this authorization, the system asks whether this substructure should be marked with Stop in the other structure relationship and whether it should be maintained in the new structure relationship:

If the user does not have this authorization or if the above dialog is confirmed with Cancel, saving is also canceled.

A substructure is processed with the same validity in another structure relationship

In this case, the corresponding assembly is automatically set to Stop and the corresponding reference is entered in the Structure Relationship column.

In the following example, object CG180129.SMC-B1/0001 is already being processed in structure relationship 292:

A different structure relationship already exists for the same reference object and target object, but with a different validity period.

In this case, the system issues a warning with the option of cancelling the save:

If all checks are successful, the structure relationship is saved and displayed. To be part of it:

• The two structures were compared and checked.

• If the target structure does not yet exist, the complete reference structure is copied to the target structure.

• If warnings or errors were issued during the check, the check messages widget is activated. See "Validation message" Widget
