Creating standard tasks

SAP standard tasks are required for SAP Business Workflow. These are not delivered, but are generated in the customer system using a generation report. The report also contains the option of saving the generated tasks directly in the basic settings of ProProcess and classifying the tasks as general.

The standard tasks created are repository objects. For generation, the report must therefore be executed on a client that allows changes to the Repository objects. The standard tasks are transported to the target systems using a Workbench transport request (Transports ). The tasks must be saved in a customer specific package.

To generate and set up the standard tasks, you must execute report /PCH/BPF_SETUP_STANDARD_TASKS using transaction SA38/SE38. The report provides various options. Since these options affect both the standard task (Workbench objects) and Customizing, they are only activated if they can be changed.

The generated standard tasks and (optionally) the basic customizing are transported. Classifying tasks, on the other hand, is not subject to the transport system and must be performed on every system and client.

Up to ProProcess version 3, the SAP workflow buffer should be updated with the transaction SWU_OBUF after executing functions. From ProProcess version 4 this happens automatically.

Generate tasks	Creates the missing tasks on the system. The system automatically checks whether the necessary tasks already exist.
Refresh texts	Refreshs the texts of existing tasks. This option is needed to support new languages and to perform technical migrations. This option does not have to be set for the initial attachment.
Saving task in customizing	The IDs of the standard tasks must be maintained in the BPF Global settings. With this option, the necessary customizing data is written automatically.
Classify tasks as general	For tasks to be executable by users, they must also be configured. With this option, the tasks are "classified as general" and can therefore be executed by any user. This step is mandatory because otherwise the task cannot be executed.
